That just proves my point that 4K can be played on usb2 and 3. Usb2 will be your black poets USB 3 is blue. On the fire they are black and play uhd np.

Have you tried VLC player or maybe MPC-HC ?

Reviving an old thread. I found vlc on my windows laptop would not play back 4k when connected to my 4k tv but if i chose playback using the windows video player (right click, open with, video) it worked well.

Vlc would not work even though i chose hardware acceleration

one of laptops has a basic graphics card, but the other is only a tiny sublaptop, a T100 asus, which doesn.t have a graphics card.

The t100 can only output 1080p to the tv but still plays the 4k video straight off the sd card.

Something to try for those with playback stuttering issues
