I have a Standard and this was my best range test with stock antenna and windsurfer.

Don't worry about 10k. Hell im trying to reach 20k. I know I can over water for sure. I broke 15k the other day before I got nervous.Ha. It's actually not hard once you take off. Can't say I didn't sweat through this but it was fun.
Open desert (aka ideal conditions) with a windsurfer will allow the bird to fly to the limits of the battery. When I fly above something interesting to see, like my neighborhood, range drops to maybe 5K feet. I'll be upgrading to powered dbs as it will increase penetration ability. And that's never bad, with drones or anything else..........☺@Captain Jerry: I think the previous posters meant horizontal travel distance, not altitude. In fact, the original poster specifically mentions that he was 394 ft up, within the FAA rules.
Speaking for myself, I've had a new P3A for six days. I've logged 40,493 meters (over 25 miles) of travel in 2h14m of flight. My greatest distance from home - so far - was approximately 3400 meters (11,154 feet or 2.1 miles). All these journeys took place in the open desert.
I am very pleased with my bird's stock configuration performance.
Poor bird freeze her feathers!I've flown in -2 Fahrenheit, but that was my limit.
that is what I'm shooting for 20k I've made it out to 18K.20,625 ft at 300 ft alt Stock, channel 32, no windsurfer, had full signal, landed with 17% battery.
i usually go a little further each time i fly, but this is probably around the battery limit and distance i feel comfortable going up to.

Dude that's bad ***!!!!that is what I'm shooting for 20k I've made it out to 18K.
I've gone 18,540 stock, no mods on P3A.
I would've gone further, but I got close to the mountain ridge.
The last time I was out flying in the mountain. I ended up with some cross winds that ate up my battery. landed with 6%..
