I am not getting any single soft spot or spots. It is the whole image that appears out of focus when in picture mode both on the tablet screen and in the .dng file. As soon as i switch over to video (1080p) and the image instantly becomes sharp and crisp.
I have exactly the same issue with my p3p. Video clear and crisp. Photos noticeably more blurry. I have improved my results using 5 pic bracketing and serious work in post with sharpening tools... I agree it's not the sensor as video is perfect. I am assuming this has been caused by a firmware...
Mavic is the one for travelling with. To take a phantom is as handy as taking a washing up bowl on holiday... you can get good travel cases but by no means are they 'packable'
I guess it's subjective to requirements... If you want something to carry with you easily and get ok pics. Or if you want specific drone journeys to get good pics. You need to acertain what exactly it is you want it for...
I can only assume BTB is 'back to back' yes I have. And the quality seems to be much less than it used to be...I will try get all pictures attached to thread later....

It sounds like the sensor screws do need adjustment as you mentioned. There is loads on here and YouTube regarding how to go about that.. please let me know you get on.. I have a similar issue. Video is perfectly clear throughout the entire frame. But still photos are noticeably blurry. But...
i can only assume he recorded it on another device at the same time and edited and faded it out in post, as the drone lifted, as no p3 has an audio record feature
