Without a gimbal no telemetry?

I removed my gimbal because I severely damaged it with a crash.

So I fly without a gimbal and camera just for the fun of flying. But I have no telemetry anymore. I have switched on the Range-extender.
Is this normal?

It is true. You have to have both the Wi-Fi module AND the gimbal installed and connected to obtain telemetry. The two components are obviously interconnected in some way.
