Why does this app take so much space?

Just checked my storage, and the phantom pilots app takes up over a gig. Is it caching every thread I view?

In the app you need to go to settings> advanced options> clear cache.

I clear the cache every few days. It's really ridiculous. There should be a setting to limit the amount of information cached.
