Hi I’m having a difficult time finding a place to fly. I’m on Long Island in Suffolk County New York near Smithtown and every place I look there are either a lot of people or it is closed. Any suggestions?

The regs don't say nobody anywhere near, it just says you can't fly directly over people not in your crew.
Get up early! You can fly legally from a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset. Best time of day to fly anyway.
Join the Acadamy of Model Aeronautics which lists no less than 5 flying sites within 10 miles of your home: AMA Search for Smithtown NY
And, I just had to put this in - Move to rural New Hampshire. My nearest neighbor is a half mile away (grin).
