What version of Android OS in use with Nvidia Shield?

My Nvidia Shield came with Android 4.4.2 installed. Upgrades are available.

What version of the Android OS are in use with the Nvidia Shield and the DJI Pilot app? Is there an advantage to later versions?

My Shield is on 5.1 Lollipop.
