Phantom 2 non-vision is the bird I have to use.
ZM gimbal h32d with gopro hero3+ black.

I want to get an ipad so I can control the bird better and know all the information it can send me on screen.
Is an Iosd mini with bluetooth enough?
I also have the FPV hub and an avl58.
If I go the ipad route, do I need the avl58 at all?

With that setup, the only use for an iPad is as the ground station. This will display a map and allow you to use waypoints. This will not give you FPV and so you will still need goggles or an FPV screen to see what the aircraft sees.

To do the groundstation, you will need to fit the iPad ground station hardware in to your aircraft and then rig up a way to power the ground part of the hardware so your iPad can connect to it. I'm guessing you already have power on the ground though as you have an AVL58 so I'm assuming you have a screen or some kind of goggles.

Ground Station only works with newer iPads 3, 4, Air and mini. First go to the app store and try and install the app, it will tell you if you can install it on your iPad or not.

You can now run Ground Station from a windows pc and power the ground hub through a usb port.
