I have been given a Phantom 2 version 1 with H3-D3 gimbal.
There is nothing plugged in the CAN-bus port and nothing attached to the video cable coming down from the main body.
I need to get a GoPro camera for it.
There is ribbon coming from the gimbal with a small USB connector for the camera. What functions does that perform on the camera?

I gather that I need to install some extra kit to enable FPV.
I am running android phone or tablet.
What would be the best set-up to use in the current era?
Will a later GoPro than Hero3+Black work?
Or do I stick with original options of Hero3+ with AVL58 + black pearl?
How does that AVL58 communicate with the GoPro?
Is the iOSD just for apple devices?
I have read some threads about android software needing a licence but nolonger suported by DJI.
Does that affect me?

Thank You

yes a TX unit

You dont use an App you use a suitable screen with a reciever or a pair of goggles

scrap it off and get something more modern the p2 is old tech
Will a later GoPro than Hero3+Black work?
it depends if it has the correct socket on the side
Or do I stick with original options of Hero3+ with AVL58 + black pearl?

not sure of what IOSD is but you dont use a phone for viewing the video feed

Again you dont use a phone

You may want to search the forums such as this link

There are tons of posts on how to wire up the P2 for fpv

Thank you for all that.
I've made a bit of progress since Saturday.
There are a number of TXs available in UK and I'm waiting for options from UK supplier.
There's a good UK vid here for modifying the P2

iOSD is a component that overlays drone parameters on the screen so you can see battery level etc.
It is not Apple-specific.

Again you dont use a phone
There is kit for feeding wireless 5.8GHz AV to Android such as
eBay item: 262897380365
It needs an android device with OTG capability.

glad to hear that, but as i said with the mini and mini prices will be about the same as buying all the kit for it.
However i wish you luck in your endevour and dont forget to licence yourself where needed

Thank you,
I did the online multiple choice test and received my licence.
