Denim blue is better than Royal blue IMO. I've done both.LuvMyTJ said:Fyod said:louforgiveno said:For anyone looking to dye other parts of the phantom, I found that rit wouldn't work for me, I used "iDye Poly" ......(important that it is the poly version of idye....)
How much of the iDye stuff did you need?
Would you mind giving instructions on how you dyed it?
The first post HERE has the instructions. Basically what the package says works.
For you peeps who have used red & blue, what color RiT brand do you recommend for a nice standard red & blue, not to dark, not to light? Scarlett & Royal?

I mixed a quart of simmering water with two tablespoons Golden Yellow and a teaspoon of Denim Blue and immersed a pair of
P1 props. 5 minutes later, still white, same 20 minutes later. So I left them in the dye all night, and they are still white this morning! I assume they must be a different plastic than the Phantom 2 props?
Going to try just the yellow on the Phantom 2 props this morning.
Do you have a link to how you got your shell that way ? That's sharp !!Ezookiel said:And they're a perfect match for the prop guards that were bought already red.

Ezookiel said:Not feeling confident with the "black" though. It doesn't seem to be taking very well at all.
I did buy the "poly" version as well, just in case, so maybe I'll use that if the non 'poly' version doesn't succeed, or maybe mix the two.
I'd be surprised though if it doesn't, as the red ones I just did weren't 'poly' either, and they worked brilliantly, it might just be a matter of length of time. I suspect that a really good black is going to be quite a long time.
Ezookiel said:I've given up and added the poly version in with the normal. It says on the pack that if you're dying mixed fabrics that need the two, that you can mix them, so I've mixed them.
The difference was immediate. Within minutes the props were clearly taking on the colour much better. The poly version also came with a sachet of liquid benzyl benzoate "colour intensifier" which I also added.
What dye brand did you use to end up with Barbie Pink. That's not the look you'd want for sure.

Or is the heat used to speed up the process?
I am just afraid to use heat and warp the propellers
