Hi guys I am looking to do some video editing what free software are you guys using I have a laptop not a apple , keep in mind I need the easiest thing to use because I am clueless when it comes to this . I watch the videos all of you do and it looks so cool so. Want in . I want free so I can get my feet wet than as my experance grows I will buy a great program . Our computer has no video editing what so ever on it ( wife didn't think it was nessary) thanks all

You can do many things. These are some of them:
Join, cut, change speed (slow motion or faster), add titles, mute or change levels of video sound, add music, add comments, do transitions between scenes, mix videos and pictures, change duration, fade in - fade out music (just to say, It works for me) :mrgreen:

I just downloaded the trial version of Final Cut Pro X for Mac, tried Adobe Premiere Pro and am totaly lost and at $800 it's far from free, good luck on your search
As Jumanoc says, Windows Movie Maker will work fine to get your feet wet. There are a number of video editing packages out there in the $100 range that will be a step up but going to professional level software like FCP or Premiere also includes a pretty steep learning curve.
