unsettled hover for a while at the start of he flight

out today with my mate and his phantom his takes off and it instantly has a locked in hover in p mode
mine takes off and the wanders around a bit both direction and height for 15-20 seconds it had 16 satellites in p mode then it it locks into the hover is this a fault or a setting not right calibrated compass and imu before flight
any ideas

last time i was out it was the the same so i tried the calibration just the same afterwards it was done cold
