Retrieve video from as card

I’m having trouble downloading 4K video from my 4 pro..I use a card reader an after what seems an Eternity downloads maybe a 3 minute video on my iPad.When I try to email it or post to FB it says it’s to long..is there a program or do I use some zip file or compression or change to 1080 or some other format?

4K video files are big and are already compressed so you won't be able to make them much smaller.
1080p will produce smaller files.
