RANGE? Immersion 600mw tx, with Spironets

I'm surprised the video is breaking up in the 600-800 meter range. I've been out to 1600 meters so far with Fatshark Attitudes and an Immersion 600mw tx and the video was really good the whole way. I chickened out at 1600 meters but I think I could have gone out quite a bit farther without a problem.

First test was with the 13dbi patch antenna from immersionRC or only the SpiroNet circular polarized?

As it says on the video, it was just with the Spironet. I changed the diversity receiver to only use that antenna and ignore the patch.

This was only testing the Fatshark 250mw not the IRC 600mw... I've still got to do that but (being the UK) it's started raining again!

Thanks, with the immersionRC 600mw (SpiroNet V2 and Helical 3 turns) i got 1500m.

Waiting for the immersionRC 600mw. :)

What receiver are you using GhostMaster? Are you on a BP too? I've not even tried my 600 with a helical yet so am keen to see!

I've gotten to 1020 meters with my Futaba 14 Tx/Rx and Boscam with Spironets. Boscam tends to be noisy on mine. Getting ready to try a Foxtech, haven't had a chance to fly it yet. But in the house it seems to be much better at rejecting electrical noise than the Boscam.

I managed to get a couple of test flights in yesterday with the Fat Shark 250mw. These are the two comparison videos showing a Helical vs Spironet on the Black Pearl. I now need another window of reasonable weather to duplicate this with the ImmersionRC 600mw… however these show some interesting detail to be going on with…. I apologise for the shaky camerawork at the start!

Spironet Tx / Spironet Rx

Spironet Tx / IBCrazy Helical (5-Turn) Rx

Clear winner with the helical I think. Very interesting comparison. Thanks for posting.

Ok, so I mentioned before that the quality of signal on my Black Pearl monitor was crap.
I have since ditched the cheap CP antenna set that I bought at the time and replaced them with this:
http://horizonfpvantennas.mybigcommerce ... mrod-rhcp/

So far I have noticed a HUGE difference in reception quality with no rolling or static.
The helical is a great antenna and doesnt even need to be accurately aimed at the P2. I have flown behind a fence and a few trees and it is rock solid.

Hopefully this info helps others who are having issues with their BP and ImmersionVTX setup.

Cheers
Stu

edit: might try one of these next.........

This sounds promising. Any chance you could film and post a review so that we can compare to our existing sets?

I didn't know the wind ever died down up there :D

It finally stopped raining long enough to complete part 2 of the transmitter / antenna comparison.

Just for continuity here are the first two videos again showing the Fatshark 250mw and the two final tests with the ImmersionRC 600mw

Test #1
Fatshark 250mw vTX + Fatshark Spironet :: Black Pearl Monitor + Fatshark Spironet

Test #2
Fatshark 250mw vTX + Fatshark Spironet :: Black Pearl Monitor + IBCrazy Helical (5-Turn)

Test #3
ImmersionRC 600 vTX + Fatshark Spironet :: Black Pearl Monitor + Fatshark Spironet

Test #4
ImmersionRC 600mw vTX + Fatshark Spironet :: Black Pearl Monitor + IBCrazy Helical (5-Turn)

I think they are pretty conclusive in what they are showing. The IRC600 I have tested here is far worse with a lot more interference than the Fatshark 250mw. I don’t know if this can be attributed to mine being dud or whether it’s a bigger problem. Just going on many forum members who are experiencing the problem it’s likely that the IRC600 is substandard. I may send ImmersionRC an email with these tests and see how they respond.

What surprises me is how much break up you are getting with all your combinations of TX and antenna well below 1000m. I still think there is something going on with those Black Pearl systems. Yesterday I got out to 2000m with a good signal almost the whole way. I'm using Attitudes, 600mw Immersion TX, Spironets.

Yes i am thinking the same thing, i have a black pearl about 2 months and i have better range and image with some cheap boscam 200mw setup (TS351+RC305), the Black Pearl receiver its not the best...

For a average user maybe not a big deal, but for someone who wants to make fpv thats not acceptable...

I wish someone had an Immersion Duo5800 Diversity to try so we could see if it is indeed the BP that is the problem.

Well, when I say die down, I mean anything less than gale force 3

I may well get hold of one to try......

Trust me, it's not the Black Pearl. It's the ImmersionRC 600. It is only compatible with a very small set of receivers. Multiple people have had exactly the same problem with the Immersion and the receiver in the Lilliput 664w.

That would be great if you could goldfishrock :geek:

The 250mw version works fine right?
