So, just finished putting my new Phantom together. Here are my upgrades:

Overall, the it took me about an hour to get everything installed. I had to cut out a small notch using a Dremel (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002L3RUW0) in the side of the battery/hull latch to get the power cables out to the OSD sensor, which I have velcro'd to the side. Other than that, the carbon fiber mounting plate holds the velcro'd ezOSD on top (with GPS skyward and away from Phantom internals) and the TX is velcro'd to the underside of the same mounting plate.

Waiting for my Zenmuse H3 2D and PMU as the next upgrade. Going to custom paint the shell and probably order one of the battery covers from Shapeways (http://www.shapeways.com/shops/maikelsdesign).

Thats a lot of cables you have coming out there, also any reason why you have the antenna bent up? Wont this just weaken the signal when flying straight towards you as it has to go all the way through the Phantom. If you point it down then it should get better reception with less objects between it and the RX antenna.

I have found with my setup that flying towards me directly causes more noise because if I am pitched forward then the gopro will be in between the tx and rx antenna. Flying away from me I get much clearer signal as there is nothing in the way. Id like to get an extension antenna to drop it down as low as possible so it gets a little below my GoPro or as close to level with the landing skids.

Radio signals dont like going through carbon fiber or gopro cameras and in your antenna position flying towards you it has to go through your carbon mount, the phantom and your gopro which I think should be avoided as much as possible. If you cant see the antenna in flight then everything between you and it is going to effect your signal.

See my antenna position I would ideally want to locate this a couple more inches lower so that it hangs below the GoPro as it clearly does effect my video feed only when flying directly to me when the gopro gets in the way.

Is that a lens hood for glare on the front of your gopro? if so where'd you get it?

Its a lens filter adapter, the snake river prototyping blurfix3 micro 52mm. In the phantom its used to reduce the shutter speed gives better motion and reduces jello on bright days too. Also protects the lens pretty well if you crash, its basically a filter adapter and they also sell some filters but any filter in that size will work. I dont think its possible to really make a lens hood for a gopro due to the very high fov it would need to be a huge hood to stay out of view in wide mode.

They also have adapters that fit over the housing and I have used their stuff for quite a while with underwater filters when scuba diving. Once I got a phantom and realized the jello problem I have used some form of nd on most flights.

What size props are you using? Look9k like 9 inch to me but hard to tell in the pic. Im also looking into OSD but most likely will go with the dji as it will end up more compact less wires and not need any more sensors like I think all others need.

So, took it out today for a test flight. It was very smooth .. went through 7 batteries.

Some notes:

- I'm using 9" carbon props
- Switched to Circular Wireless Omni TX/RX Skew Planar Wheel Combo (http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11_45_49_97&products_id=1053)
- No issues with FPV video
- Still getting some jello -- even after I put in Moongel (http://www.amazon.com/Moongel-AMG-Damper-Pads-Blue/dp/B0002L52BE) -- I guess I'll live with it for now as my Zenmuse H3 2D is arriving this week
- ezOSD worked really well .. satellite acquisition time was pretty quick, unlike other reports of it taking 3-4 minutes every time you power up
- With minimal flying, basically gps hovering, I was getting about 10m flying time. With real flying with some aggressive maneuvering I was getting about 7m.
- I didn't really test range, I'll do that tomorrow.
- I thought that the cables coming out of the modified battery cover would cause some issues, but it was perfect. The sensor on the outside isn't that big of a deal and its super stable attached to a velcro strip.

Video is a little shaky but that could be just flying GPS mode in the wind, I assume you balanced your props too as that's pretty important. Even with the gimbal you want it flying as smooth as possible to avoid it shaking itself to bits and it will make less work for the gimbal. Have you weighed your setup I wonder what the weight is and I see you have 2 xt60 battery connectors but I cant see a second battery anywhere. Is there a smaller battery somewhere or is that just how the fatshark TX connects to power?

Your flight times are pretty good as it looks heavy, I get about 7 1/2 to 8 minutes flying fairly hard using a 2200mah battery and just under 10 minutes flying with a 2700mah battery. I haven't tried 9 inch props but I have ordered a few to try out that should be here soon, I am only using the carbons on safer flying and the more aggressive close proximity FPV I am going back to plastics as I have broke 3 carbon props already when brushing branches.

My scale (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003MSZBSI) and prop balancer http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015H1FAGshould be here on Tuesday. I'm sure that the props need balancing and that has a lot to do with it. I'll know the weight soon.

No, both XT60 connections are for the ezOSD sensor. One from the battery and the other goes to the ESC.

Those anti gravity motors will be very similar to mine, I have the tiger mt-2216 kv900 main difference will be the prop shaft on mine is round 5mm but the anti gravity is using the same prop setup as the phantom. I think they are just slightly more efficient but much better balanced then the stock motors were.

Balancing props I find pretty critical and really helps with flight stability and reducing jello. I just got a few different props in today to try out, all plastics but some stiffer 8045 props much the same as the dji but less flex. I also got a couple of 3 bladed props 8x5 and 9x5, I did a quick balance on them all and had a quick test flight on the 9x5 tri blades and seemed much better then I expected. I got 2 minutes more flight time and seemed stable but this was with no cam or fpv just setup on its own getting just over 12 minutes so it looks promising but will do a bit of testing in the next few days with all the props I have.

I'll post an update once I get the new motors installed. I've also ordered a balancer so I can balance my current carbon props.

Does anyone know the color code on the t-motor . I've heard that the yellow and red are reversed on the t-motors. Is this correct??

Well, the T-motor wires are all gray, not color-coded. But if you flatten the wires out and compare to the stock motors, yes, the equivalent of the yellow and red wires are indeed reversed. So, the "red equivalent" wire on the T-motors is the middle wire, not the outside one.

Nice job -- I'll have to look into the mount plate; had not seen that one before.

BTW, the ezOSD *will* fit inside the shell, if you decide to get ambitious someday.
