Phantom 3 Advanced caught flying over 3rd base at Phillies game.

Stupid of him to fly over the stadium, but was it legal for them to force him to erase his video?
Intellectual property-- photo and video rights held by the Phillies and Major League Baseball

all copyrighted stuff and proprietary as well. they get big bucks for all that media. lucky he did not got to jail.

So what about the hundreds of phone pics taken during every game?

Yeah..... it's pretty dumb..... the network(s) wants to control everything because its $$$. You bring up a good point... not just cell phone video, but what if someone brought in a good small sized video camera and posted that video via their mobile device.... that would certainly be a problem... for the networks

Somewhat different-- a phone in the stands versus a drone over third base- not only against the policies of MLB but also a distinct terrorist national security threat.

Guess the point of erasure is "you won't get video/pics so don't bother", and yes I get it you should not fly in that environment anyway.

Can't you pull lower quality off your tablet (when you hook it up to your computer)? (Along the same lines when you upload flight records to healthydrones.com)
Also, play of the year would've went to the player that could hit it with the ball. Well….2nd play of the year after Bautista's home-run/bat flip :)

There's some good in this story. The local police actually remanded him to the FAA as opposed to trying to charge him with something themselves. As they should.
