Phantom 3 advanced average range?

I have been getting a range of 2500ft with my advanced and it doesn't seem right as I have seen many posts of people easily getting over the 3 mile mark. Anybody have similar experience? What should I do?

If you fly around heavy resident area with lots of home wifi signal, you may only get 1,000ft range.
If you fly around a wide flat empty desert, you may get 10,000ft range.
So where do you fly?

Everyone situation is different. Even with antenna mods , you won't get far in a major city. Flat land yes
