the range extender on my phantom 2 will not charge, the power light just glows a dull orange color, and switching the unit on does nothing, no lights etc..is it safe to use the drone with the extender switched off? would it just affect the range of the signal or cause other problems? thanks

I doubt if you will even be able to fly your P2V, but if you can, I doubt if you will be able to fly it very far under control. My P2V wifi extender seems to take a long time to charge if I haven't used it for a while, but ultimately it turns green. Perhaps just be patient. Give it some hours.
Hi, the range extender is for the video connection. You should be able to fly your phantom 2 without issue as far as the 5.8ghz control signal will allow. Of course you will not have any video feed. I have had mine out to 400m no problems.
