I have an Iphone 8 plus and i can bind with no issues, in fact IOS is the best for binding, if you want to use Android you really need an older Android 4 or 5, ive used the Samsung S4 S5 to bind, but had issues with the S6 and upwards.
The ipad mini can be used, but its big and bulky, I prefer the Nvidia Shield K1 its a big tablet but has a great screen
