Phantom 1 won't connect to software

So I picked up a Phantom 1, basic, no camera, etc...
Flew it a few times, like these old birds, also have a 2 vision +....
Anyhow I did download the assistant program from DJI, and notice on both drones, I get no info when connected to the drones. Is that because I never did register with DJI, or am I missing something?

(Yes I did download the Phantom 2 assistant also and tried it on the Vision plus)

That's it, click 0n the NAZAM it will open the installation driver and follow the steps, also a good idea to download the manual
