This was a lil test flight out here on the island of Oahu
Here is my first flight video. I live near Toronto Canada. The video was taken along the shoreline of Lake Ontario. Sorry that the video is fairly shaky. I'm a new pilot and probably got carried away with how fun this thing is and didn't pay much attention to the video quality.

Hi all,
I'm a first time Phantom owner too, so the flying skills leave a lot to be desired at present. The excitement of my new purchase got me out on a day when the wind was strong and gusty!
However here is a quick video from my second flight. You might notice the moment of panic as I got a bit close to the trees at the end!!

And what's an ND filter? What sort of exciting things are we going to be able to accomplish by adding lens filters? Just when you thought you'd cracked piloting you now have to go and learn a whole other new set of skills.
Thank you. A couple of duff transitions, but then I've had to learn the video editing software as well! Just hoping for good weather on Friday or over the weekend to be able to add to the library. Need to decide which nearby beauty spot to bother next...

Im also new to the quadcopter world and this is my first machine. Ive had RC airplanes back in the day so I have a little bit of ease to fly them. Im very into photography and I hope to have lots to share with you all.
Ive done less than 10 flights and here are some videos that Ive shot. I live in Brazil and I have a girlfriend here in Germany where I bought it. Soon Ill be posting videos from tropical Brazil!

a Neutral Density filter is what BBC's Top Gear production over use a hell of a lot! Put simply, it can add a graduated darkening of certain (or whole) areas of an image. Back in the days of film we used them a lot and i still do for landscape and some wedding photography. Mostly used on sky and clouds to give a polarised more vivid effect. A polarising lens will give a different look by filtering certain wavelengths and restricting or enhancing what hits the digital sensor. Unfortunately, filters today are applied via software in post production whereas the best effects can normally be achieved RAW and then enhanced in post.
today i created a lens hood for my Vision and i managed to reduce about 95% of the flaring from a low winter sun. If id had a filter as well, i could have improved the final image no-end. Your video had loads of flaring.
i'm also considering painting the out bezel of my camera black as i have a suspicion that some of the flaring is actually a refracted flare off of the metalic bezel. Have you also noticed on yours (and many other) video the hotpsot that tracks along the ground around the Vision's own shadow on a sunny day. I'm trying to replicate and then eradicate this eroneous light pattern also!

Studiowise you are now officially my favourite photography geek. I respect a person who takes their expensive, heavily R&D'd, professional designed new bit of kit and seeks to make it do a better job than it does. Funnily enough I erased a bit out of my original post that said "What can we achieve with lens filters other than the ubiquitous Top Gear dramatic sky stuff!
I had noticed that hotspot, and to tell you the truth I do sort of like it. In a funny way it's quite cool to draw attention to the fact that you've got all this fab aerial footage from a little machine under your control. However for a pro I understand that what you want is flawless images. Between your camera shade and iPad mount solution you could have a nice little cottage industry in after-market P2V add-ons going!

demianmoura, great clips. City Center clip blew my mind, you had to be flying FPV for a large portion of that video and then landed on a balcony! Very impressive. Looking forward to your tropical Brazil footage.

A new video from a nice flight this morning, maiden after upgrading firmware and switching to NAZA mode. Flying in atti mode does make for smoother video, certainly in light to calm winds. You can easily tell which clips were filmed in GPS and which in atti (and which were in atti with me fiddling about!). Quite odd watching it drift with the wind, even just a light breeze means you've got to watch out that it doesn't move away too far, too fast.
This one had some moving targets in it for me to practice moving the Vision like a camera, rather than just like an aircraft. Enjoyed it!

Pullup, that was great. Looks like the puppy is getting use to the Phantom. Two trains following each other. Don't ususally see that in the States.
You can see how practicing is beneficial. I have two Steadicams, and it took a lot of practice to get steady shots. Which brings me to a point: one is just not going to take something as sophisticated as the Phantom right out of the box and get great steady shots, you have to practise, which you just proved.

Thanks. It is a definite skill. Circling round the dog I found the most challenging - moving the aircraft smoothly to keep the camera pointed at her meant doing some odd-feeling things (like crossing the sticks - right yaw with left aileron). Previously I've been just concentrating on flying micro quads or the Vision without worrying about capturing video and I tended to fly more conventionally (e.g. co-ordinated turns - keep the nose pointing in the direction of travel). This a lot of fun - the Vision's app makes it so easy to just take lots and lots of clips so you've got choice when it comes to editing them together (yet another skill I need to practice). I need my spare battery to arrive - one for getting the shots done, one for just buzzing around!

I do not suppose DJI will ever let us have the Wookong M POI feature
on the Phantom Vision, but on my Hexacopter it makes circling so simple.

Nice! I don't know if there's any scope for the Vision to have - or have fitted - some kind of device to accept control input via the app wifi link? In theory could they then develop the phone app to the point where it could send fly-to-waypoint or POI function as you showed?
