People throwing stuff at your drone

I've heard of someone making a fake media pass and telling people they are filming stock nature scenes for a film or TV show just so they leave him alone. He said he never does anything illegal but people are more chill about the drone flying around. Makes sense I suppose.

But that's commercial use which should be backed up by a pilot's license or an FAA waiver - right?
