I know there are some dual owners here! Has the Mavic pro reached a point where it is worth switching from a p4? Would like your input!

It really depends on your specific needs and wants. Why would you choose the Mavic over a P4?

Strictly for size and ease... I am more concerned with reliability of the mavic

If all you're after is the size and ease, then it's a no-brainer. Definitely get the Mavic. It seems to be just as reliable as the other aircraft offered by DJI.

My main bird is the Inspire 1 Pro but I ordered the Mavic for its portability. I needed a drone I could keep with me at all times and be able to setup and knock-down in less than a minute, for a lot of my jobs I spent more time setting up and knocking-down than I did flying. Don't get me wrong I still use my Inspire for more "serious" work.

What would be a reason to remain with a p4?
Size and ease-wise? The Mavic has it beat all day long.

There are many other non-related reasons to buy a P4 instead though. For example:
  • It handles better in the wind
  • It sits higher off the ground
  • It has more sensors
  • It's easier/safer to hand catch
  • The gimbal isn't as fragile
  • There are more accessories available
  • There are more replacement parts available
  • The remote controller battery lasts longer

and what is up with that manual focus on Mavic? you have to hit the screen to focus the blurry picture/video. That is a buzz kill for me. plus, I like you using I pad mini . phone is too small to look at while flying.

It's work more like the average digital camera. There are settings to make it auto focus too.

So I did the switch and then switched back to the p4! The video quality was terrible on the mavic and requires way to much post to get usable footage. 1080p 60 is totally garbage and not useable at all. The focus makes it next to impossible to get a decent landscape photo that is in focus throughout, I think I had a handful of decent stills out of around 100. The aircraft itself is great, handles well and fly's well. Hopefully next mavic will have a decent camera .

The iPad Mini 2 and 4 fits perfectly in the Mavic controller, fits like a glove, just open the holders all the way and slide it in. Very secure too.

Use FPV Camera for all my flying with P4 and Mavic. It provides auto focus for the Mavic, so no hitting of the screen.
The Ipad Mini fits perfectly in stock holder attached to the radio and my I pad pro fits aswell with two small adapters.
Flying with the DJI App just focus once after take off and thats it.
Love them both....
