My P4 gimbal "wags" with lens hood on. Even just sitting on the ground, hovering, full speed. I should say it "nods"--it is incapable of wagging! But goes up and down as if trying to shake off the hood. Zero issues without it. It's feather-light but I can't see anything Else that could effect the gimbal. Does this even without the fans running (those brushless motor things
