I am just getting started with drones so bare with me. I just received my P3SE delivered from China. Very nice but all the literature is in Chinese. I also purchased an iPad 4 mini. The controller has only one port that is used for charging. I assume the same port is for linking the iPad. Well the controller has a USB mini port, and the iPad has the Lighting port as you probably know. What is the best cable or configuration to link the two together?

The SE is Fcc certified, no matter that is currently for Chinese market only. Actually 4km range is in FCC mode, in SRRC mode (China) is 3km.

I thought that the P3SE was for China release only?
It is but you can buy it from various online retailers, and again SE is FCC certified as well as CE, so it can be imported to both US and EU, its just DJI doesn't officially selling it outside of China because some reason only known to them.

Bought mine from Wally. Took two weeks to get here but the seller & I emailed every day. I have noticed the price jumped up from what I paid substantially. So I emailed her and asked if I could buy direct. Yes! And cheaper.

OK, i finally made test flight with my new P3SE and i must say that i am impressed. Here is quick comparission with my standard.

Camera: i would say that quality of the video apart from SE is 4k is pretty much the same, maybe slightly better but without more comparission i would say that are very close

GPS: my P3S is always pretty fast in acquiring satelits but because SE also using GLONASS it was almost instant, also on p3s i usually have around 9-11 sats on SE i had 19

Range: this is what impressed me most, i am in EU so in CE mode, best distance i was menaged with p3s moded with MP 5.3 and latest firmware was around 800m, with SE without any mods and latest firmware i went for 2,3km with both control and video feed signal strong but i decided to bring it back because i didnt want to push it on first flight, i will test the max range in coming days and report. Also latency isn't bad at all, maybe even better then on p3s. Don't know how DJI accomplish this but they did somehow.

I would suggest everyone who wants to buy standard to seriously consider SE, because it is around 100usd more and almost all people who buy standard are disappointed with the range and then trying to improve it with argtek, dbs etc and at the end will spend around same amount of money and not get same result and also missed features like glonass, 4k camera and VPS.

Edit: Only downside for now is that SE isnt support in Litchi or any other 3rd party app because DJI still didnt update SDK with SE support, i just hope that they will soon because i like Litchi much more then GO.

Edit 2: SE controller battery lasts much shorter then on standard, barely 2 flights on full battery, also it get much warmer then standard. Check in the manual and P3S RC use 600mA and SE RC use 1.2A.

I haven't flown mine yet. Now you got me excited! Thanks for your post.

Wow looks like the SE is definitely a better buy than a standard. But the advanced and even the professional are in a similar price range. It is difficult to choose which one to buy.

I pay around 550usd with custom duty for SE, advanced and pro are definitely better but much more expensive.
