When the P2+ lands on its own, does it have the ability to land on a FLAT surface without ever tipping over? Or are you better off taking control of it before it lands?

Yes it can land on a flat surface and you can take over at any time and hand catch or manually land as you see fit.

I think what I was trying to find out is will it ever tip over when it is landing on its own?

Mine will often touch down then try to skip closer to the home point or something - it's risky, you are better regaining control as it descends. Then catch or land normally.
