Do you think it is worth it to get any of these for my new P3? Should I get a camera guard and Gimbal saver or just one of those?

1 - UAV BITS carbon fiber camera guard http://www.uavbits.net/store/p19/Carbon_Fiber_Camera_Guard_for_DJI_Phantom_3.html
2- UAV Inertia Guard http://www.uavbits.net/store/p10/Inertia_Guard.html
3- Killer RC Gimbal Saver http://www.killerrc.com/product/dji-phantom-3-gimbal-saver/

4- Metal Inspire 1 Mobile Device Holder for my iPad Air http://store.dji.com/product/inspire-mobile-device-holder? http://store.dji.com/product/inspir...784&clicksid=5757b92b68b19d8db10123b341649899

Thanks!

Yep. I use the killerRc bracket and have the inspire 1 holder on order

Up to you. I had the camera guard on my vision plus , but the killer RC bracket is a must buy in my opinion

What's the cost to repair and fix a gimbal? The gimbal guard is $49, but sites says it costs $80 to repair. I rather send it in to repair if the difference in price is low.

I ask as you can see I have had a problem. I sent my P3A to DJI last week.

Hopefully there will be some Chinese knock off ribbon cables.
Replacement ribbon cables I've bought in the past for other items have only been a few quid (genuine OEM ones).

If DJI are charging $80 that's a disgusting mark up.

Is the issue just the ribbon cable exposed and easy to rip ? Can you not reinforce the cable with some tape or other means? Having a nice hard cover like the RC gimbal saver is good, but I wonder if it's overkill.

kenmasters, the plastic mount flexes even when tightened. When it loosens (after you get sick of re-tightening it and eventually give up), it wobbles like crazy.

The issue is that the gimbal separates -- which then means it's only being held together by the cable. If enough force is applied, the cable then rips. The gimbal protectors prevent the gimbal from separating.

I thought that DJI fixed this problem when they released the p2v+v3?? The cameras are now pressed onto the gimbal.
I know for a fact from first hand experience this is true for the p2+v3 so I'd assume (yeah assuming) DJI carried the fix over to the p3.

AmosMoses, that could be true. However, someone did post a photo of a P3 that separated within days after the first batch of P3s were shipped.

I would like to say I'd be surprised if dji didn't carry the fix over but..... Welllll.....you know.

In the pic of the separated camera above it looks like the camera would have stayed together pretty well if the casing didn't break.

So far I haven't seen it as an issue with the crashes I've been reading about. I'd have to say that other than a warm fuzzy feeling and looking pretty that's all ya get with the gimbal guard. Just not seeing the separation issues like with the p2v+.

Let's be honest though. If you crash hard enough to make the gimbal separate, the cable is going to be the least of your worries :)

They haven't fixed it in any Phantoms. A gimbal saver is a must have if you own a Phantom 2 or 3.
