I live outside Chicago and can only get a couple thousand feet before disconnect.
Of course Starved Rock State Park is a different story!!!

I am helping my brother move to just east of Mesa and was wondering how far the outbound distance might be.
I assume they have power lines too, but it has to be a way different environment than outside of Chicago.

thank you in advance!!!

Hi Stumpy ... flying both in State parks and beyond visual sight is not in anyone's best interest, unless you have a CFR 14 Part 107 waiver for the later and a Special Use Permit for the former. I think this holds true for F4Fs as well.

;)

Thanks for the reply! Believe me, I researched extensively about flying in Starved Rock and there is absolutely nothing that would prevent me from flying there. I didn't want to fly over the hiking trails and people, just launch from the observation decks and along the Illinois river. I also wanted to film several canyons and got there as soon as the park opened because in the small canyons, my P3A sounds like a chainsaw and I didn't want to ruin anyone's experience. Any other comments you have are most welcome.

Airmap doesn't say anything about restrictions other than an AMA field close by.

As far as Mesa is concerned, there are a lot of airports and heliports around there. But, if you are willing to drive a bit you can get some spectacular footage farther south.

Hey, no problem driving to get some good video. I will check out south of Phoenix. Thank you!
