Lost parrot drone, the first Christmas present flyaway

Hi Guys, and a late Happy Christmas to you all.

This is the first of this seasons (and probably not, but hopefully the last) Christmas present flyaways.

My brother got a parrot hydrofoil mini drone for christmas. It was flying really well yesterday (christmas day) but I had (tried to have) a fly today and after I took off it landed with out me doing anything and when I took of again (the fateful mistake) I pushed the throttle up, only a little bit and the drone started to clime and it just didn't stop. I lost contect with it shortly after it started to climb. But it just kept climbing till it was out if sight (and probably kept climbing after that).
A sad story I know, so my question is, does anyone know if there is any way of tracking this type of drone? My guess is there isn't but i thought I would just put it out there.
It seemed to be a pretty smart drone but I guess the fact that it is controled by a phone via bluetooth will not help the matter.

Sorry to hear about your loss. According to reviews on Amazon, you're not the only one who lost one due to flyaway. Maybe one of the downfalls/hazzards of piloting inexpensive drones solely using an app versus a controller. Better luck with your next bird.

Thanks for that, I personally agree, it seems to be a novelty to be able fly a drone with your phone. But I definitely prefer the controller. I mean how do they expect it work via bluetooth or wifi.

And there's the problem. Precisely controlling a drone with just an app is something of a challenge. If the app crashes, there goes your sole means of control. Again, you don't like to see anyone lose a drone but, with drones, you pretty much get what you pay for. Even my $60 Syma drone that I learned to fly with had a controller, for crying out loud. Was it much to talk about, no, but then, I never had a flyaway either. Hope you have much more success with your next drone. It's a very enjoyable, gratifying, and addicting hobby.
