I can not for the life of me get the dji director to work on my HTC 1 and now have been looking for outside programs. Any ideas?

There are many out there that will do the trick-- some are "free" if you believe that
I use Adobe Premier Elements-- costs about 100 dollars for a single user version and it will do anything with any type of video or picture file.

You mention an Android phone so I can only think you are looking for an Android app that will edit video. Hands down the best Android app for editing is KineMaster. However, it's $4/month or $40/year.
If you are looking for PC software, please do a search as it's been discussed in many threads.
