Hello all,

Well it seems that I may be looking for a replacement battery for my FC40.
What is the latest desired pack??

3000 30c?? 4000 20c?? Or something else.

Just looking for some good opinions.

TIA

Les

All depends on how much you're willing to modify your battery door and compartment. I'm happy with this one, it fit's in the bay without any trimming but the door will need to be removed or modified. http://www.ebay.com/itm/291262724441?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I haven't tried the Black Magic yet. The dimensions are the same as the one above so I assume it will fit the same. http://www.ebay.com/itm/221726638182?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Thanks for the reply. Presently the FC40 is just stock. I have/had two of these;

Now I have one due to one dying is a mishap.

Be advised that the Black Magic is out of China. For me, not interested in that one because of that.

I can do and have thought about some mods.
Just haven't done anything except drawing in pencil the needed cuts for a bigger battery..

Thanks for the input.

I'm liking those batteries. Thanks for the links. :)

Hey Les, have you had good luck with choice? And snap a pic of your drawing and lets see what comes out of your mind and falls on paper. ;)

The Multistar 4000s, I have 4 of them (247.6 grams) have been very good to me. I'm a little disappointed in the 10C rating on them though. Sometimes I have to ease up a bit and let them catch up. It's quite common at this altitude while trying to cover some distance while climbing a mountain.

I'm getting really good flight times out of my ThunderPower 2700, and from my LectronPro 2700s. The lighter weight seems more attractive to me these days.

Who's next??????? :D

For me it was about flight time, so the Multistar 4000s were my choice. They do have a Multistar 5200 which gives even more flight time as I am seeing people getting 24 minutes of flight time. These 2 batteries do require modding the entrance to the battery compartment, but that only took a minute using a dremel and it looks nice a professional this way. I have not needed to change the battery door for the 4000 battery, just widen the entrance a bit. Overall I am very satisfied using it.

I use the stock 2200mah battery for short flights when I need good response (20C discharge) and balance (ie. for shooting video). My bird is over 1400 grams with the multistar 4000mah batts, so only use these when I am flying far without concern for instability in wind and not usually when shooting videos.

Thanks all,

This is all good input. I am leaning for another 3000 to maybe a 4000 with some mods to the opening.

Which is better a 20C or a 30C on either or??

Thanks,

Les

Hey Les,

The "C" rating on a battery refers to how fast the battery can discharge without overloading.
If you are going to weigh your bird down and fly aggressively, get the higher rated battery.
There's a lot to learn about batteries, I've provided a couple links below to help you out.

For me, at 5,000 to 8000 feet above sea level, with a bird weighing 1,150 grams, I need higher discharge rates when I'm flying aggressively or battling high winds. Near sea level with a bird of the same weight, you may get away with using a 10C battery without any issues.
Sometimes I have to mellow out my flying and wait for the 10C battery to catch up.
