This is easy.....
The craft, after the person catching it is still losing altitude as your trying to shut it off. Holding the stick all the way down does nothing if the craft is descending. Have the person catching it, slowly raise the craft as you are shutting it down to compensate for the rocking boat. So have them catch it low, like chest level, then soon as they have a grip, lower your stick and have them slowly raise it above their head.
