Had idea to maybe bring to DJI...

If they added a sensor to the V2 so if it is descending quickly, at about 10 feet to ground it would force itself to stop and hover. This could be turned on and off.
So if it was a controller mistake, pilot error or some odd occurrence, the V2 would stop and hover, protecting itself from a crash.

Goofy idea? Even needed? ... thoughts...

I've always thought it would be useful for the Phantoms to rely on some sort of ground 'sonar' (or other distance mechanism) in addition to the finicky barometric sensor. Whether that was specifically for crash mitigation is up for discussion, but would be a valid use.

On the surface that sounds like a good idea,, But just letting go of the sticks does exactly that, Stops and hovers,, I could see that in the event of electronic failure on the Phantom this could be a safety catch ( as long as it's not part of the failure )
