Just dumb I guess about Home Lock

Okay first I'm new at this type flying. I just bought a Phantom 2 Vision. Reading through the manual I have not seen anything about home lock. I understand the concept, but when I watched the YouTube videos from DJI they said the top switch on the left does not do anything. Is this true or how would I put my controller is Home Lock mode? Thanks
