Just curious.. What do you call your drone?

I'm only curious because I hear a lot of people call their drones birds, quads, quadcopters, copters, etc.. The bird one confuses me because I associate birds with wings so I am wondering if it's the people who have been flying since model airplanes that coined this name or do helicopter pilots name them this as well??

I was wondering this exact thing today. "Drone" seems widely acceptable, but I swear it's born out of the military surveillance division of UAV's (the ones that cruise at 30,000 ft. altitude) Though I may be wrong. Interested to see the results and here some opinions on the matter.

'Bird' is most likely a shortening of the slang term for a helicopter, 'whirlybird'.

I call my drone all sorts of names sometimes, but only when it's bad....
