My old eyes can't read much of the P2V data on my iPhone. The battery data, number of satellites and 'radar' screen and a blur unless I put on my readers and bring the screen in close. Solution: iPad Mini. I bought one and it's much easier to read.
I've seen a lot of DIY solutions for mounting an iPad or iPad Mini to the transmitter, but the iPad/iPad Mini is both heavy and expensive, a combination that makes my wary of DIY solutions.
I have a friend that works in a state of the art machine shop so I bought a iPad Mini shell with a ball head at Amazon for $25.

There is a model for the iPad

And a model for the iPad Air

I brought the Grifiti case/ball head to the machine shop and told my friend I want a mount for the transmitter that is 100% reversible (no holes to drill no sticky tape or modification of the original DJI phone mount), it should center the iPad (I don't want the weight of the tablet to be off to one side), the transmitter must be able to fit in a standard case/backpack transmitter cutout with little or no modification and most importantly, is must be very secure so it supports any size tablet with a sunshade attached.
I've seen his first prototype and it should fulfill all my requirements. He is an artist with a milling machine, the aircraft aluminum prototype looks like a DJI product.
He should have the machining finished soon and I'll post photos as soon as I can. He may put these into production and sell them if there is sufficient interest.
