iPad mini wifi

Thinking of getting a wifi mini. If I get the wifi only will this work? Will find my phantom work ? If I get the wifi and cellular , I have to spend 30.00 a month extra on my cellphone bill to have it. What are you guys doing ?

WiFi Mini is all you need. No need for cellular connection with Phantom.

If it's wifi only how does it know where its at , if its not on a wifi network? Does google maps still work ?
I'm pretty sure with my iPad 1 it won't work unless I'm hooked to a wifi.
I know the fpv will work, but wasn't sure about the gps maps.
