Just got my P3 Standard for Christmas and I want to fly it indoor. I just want to get it off the ground 4 ft., hover above the take off point, then return to its launch location. I tried to do this but I believe it was trying to follow GPS and it was maintaining the 4 feet but moving around the room (trying to follow or find GPS?). I had to grab it from below and hold it in place until I could shut it down. I do not mind if it wanders around but does it have a proximity sensor to avoid running into the walls and other solid stationary objects?

It was moving around because it won't have had enough GPS satellites to get a lock, so would have been in ATTI mode (Attitude), which means it holds its altitude but not its position. It is very tricky to fly in a relatively small space in ATTI mode, so best to avoid it. The Phantom 4 range do have some obstacle avoidance abilities, but not the P3.
