My videos go on you porn. My drone is THE BONE DRONE.

The more I think about some of the comments being made here, the more I'm convinced that all drone pilots should be mandated to get some aeronautical education before they can fly a drone. At the very least they must learn about the national airspace classifications and the requirements to fly under VFR conditions versus IFR. An airplane in minimum VFR conditions is never gonna be able to see and avoid a phantom, what about planes working in the pattern under special VFR conditions? Are you as a drone pilot going to be able to see and avoid a plane in either of those conditions?

I see a lot of people on these forums calling themselves "Drone Pilots"... In my humble opinion most are drone operators.. There's alot of "Pilots" including myself who feel before you guys call each other "Pilots", you first take a bit of time educating yourselves so you know how to share the airspace safely with others.

Sorry if I offend anyone, but this attitude of, I can fly wherever I want" is in my opinion the slow death of the drone community.

I agree. Arguing that a midair collision with the Phantom at 1500 won't hurt the plane is crazy. You shouldn't be flying it about the 400' limit. My buddy in his younger days decided to buzz our neighborhood in a 172. He was below the FAA VFR altitude guidelines. His license was suspended for a year.

If I had my P3, I'd certainly be testing the limits. I realize that if a Phantom ever brings down a plane, they will be illegal within a month. So I'm enjoying it while it is still possible, even though I don't have one yet.

Try setting the max altitude to 0m. That works for the Inspire 1, and disables the height limit. Might work for the P3 too.
This was debunked by DJI rep's, are you saying you set it for zero and exceeded the 500m limit? Or are you asking someone else to try it?

HA! Looks like you are wanting someone else to try it, no thanks, risk your own bird :)

Hey if you are on Android, have a Phantom 3, and want to fly higher than 500m, send me a PM, I have a solution for you and I'm looking for beta testers.

I was feeling really good today and decided to go for it! I was 30 feet away and took it straight up as high as it would go. It got to 1654.2 feet and then I got a message saying the the max altitude was reached and to change it in the settings. It got up there rather quickly going 11 MPH. It still had 91% battery left when it reached the limit. I hovered for a couple minutes then hit my RTH button and down she came! I kind of wish that 500m limit wasn't there. It was nice to see things from that POV. in the video I can see my dads house and that is over 5 miles away!. I am uploading the video now and will post the link as soon as its done. Its completely unedited so nothing special.

Wow you're a complete *******.
You were flying in class B airspace so you're the moron who's going to collide with a manned aircraft and end this for everyone. KEEP IT UNDER 400'. I guess they don't tell you that what you click buy it now on Amazon. Learn the rules ******* before you kill a few hundred people and ruin it for everyone. Also really stupid to post that video.

In my opinion there shouldn't be a height limit in the app. There are no laws or regulations on the books today limiting height, at least not in the US. If there were then that's another story and by all means throw whatever that limit is in as the max height.

It's weird that DJi picked 500m to begin with. You would think they would have gone with the 400ft limit instead as this is the guideline, not law, in the US. I believe that same guideline says to maintain Line of Sight yet there isn't a hard max distance limit at all.

Take the limit out and then put it back in if something becomes law. I would be the first to update my firmware to stay within the legal limit.
You're so wrong it's not even funny. 400' agl. Line of sight. It's published everywhere

Nice scenery, and don't fret the altitude police. You were in a clear non densely populated area and besides that the chances of a random low flying plane hitting you is astronomically low and even if that did happen the phantom is so small and light weight it would not cause a catastrophic failure of an aircraft.

One thing though is you mentioned using RTH to bring the Phantom back down. In my opinion if you do do not have the skill, competence and or confidence in your ability to safely pilot back down then you have no business flying it up that high to begin with.

In before somebody complains that you went that high. :p
That is very cool. I believe the video was take on another planet that mimicks earth with no restrictions, there for no law or rule was broken . if pilots never pushed the enlolope we would have never had a man on the MOON !!!

In my area 99% of planes are just a dot in the sky. I had 2 spotters with me that were looking to be sure that that 1% wasnt around. Im 45 miles from Metro Airport, 21 from Ann Arbor airport and 39 from Toledo airport.

I wish planes over MY house were dots in the sky!!!!!!!!!! We are the local pilot training area for the big city of Dayton, Ohio.

Unfortunately, they like to fly at 300-400 ft height over my property EVERY DAY!

It does not seem fair that I have to descend for THEM wen they are below their 500ft min height anyway!!!!

I have had my **** neighbor, who is chief of police and obeys NO laws, actually HIT MY TREES flying so low to see what we are doing!

Have I any recourse?? F-no! bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Detroit, I really don't see it. I am new to this forum, but not new to, I have old landscape software that looks like that,
it really does not look real, and if if truly is video is really does not look good. Looks old school. Does not do justice to dji at all.
worst video I have seen.

I 100% Agree that you shouldn't be flying that high if you have to use RTH to bring it back. I did have control and didn't need to use the RTH but like I said I did it to test it out.
