How to turn off lights on P3

I see that with the apple dji apple app you can turn off the lights while in flight and then turn back on after you take a photo or video- but not on the android app- does anyone have any idea about this?

The app is the same - you can turn off the front lights on both.

The phantom needs to be on, make sure you get the Pilot app direct from the dji website.

Make sure you are on version 1.1.0 (android) from http://m.dji.net/djipilot

when I go to dji website mentioned above it tells me a threat has been detected and shuts down- I have version 1.0.10 and am trying to download the new version- any Idea why it will not let me in?

There will be something in your settings that is stopping you from downloading an .apk file yourself rather than from a "trusted site"
Find the setting and make it allow downloads.

Try going into your device settings and click "allow unknown applications" or something along those lines.
