How long will it take to learn to fly my Phantom 4 Pro?

All good advice and the one thing I will add is to make good use of the built in flight simulator. It works quite well and will give you lots of experience with the sticks.

Regarding the simulator, why doesn't it add a larger map? It appears the map ends quickly.

It is mainly for getting used to the sticks and maneuvering around. Change the perspective so that it shows the AC and the ground and it gives you a great look at what the sticks do and how the AC responds.

While wanting and waiting for a Phantom I got a Syma X8-HW FPV on discount from the local toyshop, it has been fun learning to fly and not to worry about bumping into something and ruining it. So far I have gone through 3 propellers from hitting the ivy around the clothes poles trying to weave a figure of 8 around them.

There is a huge difference between the two aircraft
Syma:flying in the back yard is the worst place to learn how to fly.
go to face book and look up.
Dirby07 and look at the video there.
this is where I learned to fly.
