Home lock/Course lock?

I am still just using the basic settings for flying my new Phantom. I am gradually learning but still can't quite get my head round Course lock.
I know that in IOC that the controls mean that whatever the way the phantom is pointing it will go forward/back etc when you adjust the controls. Am I right that in Home lock if you set that and activate it the Phantom flies back to the home position? And it does it in a straight line? But in Course lock it returns to the home position following the course it just took? Or have I got that completely wrong??!

If I have got it wrong I will blame the chinese translated instructions!

Course Lock the Phantom will want to fly in a grid pattern based on the initial direction it's pointed on start up.
Home Lock it will want to fly in a radius-circular pattern and will fly towards the home location (requires GPS)
