It's not a dumb question though as I had the same problem when I first got my P3P a couple of years ago, so don't think you're alone in this.

As Dronason has suggested to you, I looked to the internet to work it out... I use a different kind of gimbal lock now anyway...

The video has 64,000 views so a lot of people must have this same issue.

On a side note... that video is terrible. I cringe every time I see it's thumbnail. Looks like the person just went out to their car for 10 minutes after reading someone's post about how to insert the guard and just video'ed putting the guard on while the Phantom was sitting on the passenger seat of the car.
