been looking at this device, what does actually do/for ?

Just look on their website:

"All purpose logger for drones and quadcopters. Record all flight data to the on-board memory card and use together with the powerful Flytrex sevices."

It's not available for the P3. Nor would you need it since the P3 logs its own data.
