FLiFLi AirDrop

Yes. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to get connection between the dropper and the remote before I take off. . But then it works great. I have no problem with height or distance.(LOS) they claim it works up to a mile. I run my cargo string over the center support to keep the weight centered. And depending on the cargo , size and weight,
I hang it so the prop wash doesn't throw it around. I use it on my P3S.

I’m sure it has a lot of good uses for it like for SAR to drop fist aid kit and H2O, maybe if you have a bait & tackle business you can cater to fishing boats (bait, tackle, smokes, refreshments) a couple miles off coast. To bad it only has 1 mile range. What is the heaviest weight you’ve carried.

I am hoping I can deliver a lightweight life saving float. In the summer I stay on the lake shore of Lake Huron. If anyone goes in the water and they are struggling I'd like to deliver anything floatable I can. Even if it is a pool swim noodle. I've probably had 8 1/2 ounces in a water balloon.? The wind sent it into a swinging motion so had to drop it quick. The motors were working harder . I know it's a thin line to carry anything life saving but I'll try.

IIRC the maximum recomended payload for a P3S is about 350g without overloading the motors.
the airdrop wieghs 105g so that just leaves you 245g or just over half a pound.
You could maybe use it to drop a small co2 bottle and a water activated inflatable float.
Just don't drop the co2 bottle on someones head. hahahah...

The key to being successful is to practice, practice, and practice. I hope you never find yourself needing to rescue someone drowning, but if you do, don’t forget to hit the record button. That will make positive media coverage for our industry.

Well the air drop rates the P4S at a max of 2.2 pounds with the system installed, so I guess fishing is technically possible...

Not an issue with the P3S but if you try with any model with downward vision sensors make sure you turn them off. The cargo will mess with the sensor reading and make the flight unstable.
If you want to get serious with deployments and search and rescue than you want to look into the DJIs Matrice line. They are a bit more costly than the Phantoms to say the least but the ideal drone for the job. Long flight times, larger payloads, far better in colder weather and used by First responders all over the country.
