Federal Appeals Court Voids FAA Registration Rule For Model Aircraft

I guess the FAA guidelines go back to being actual guidelines instead of "rules", and I spent $5 for nothing?

If this stands I'm sure the FAA will come up with another approach. I wonder if they could reclassify multi-rotor UAVs into its own separate category outside of "model aircraft" and go from there?

I wonder how this will affect the Part 107 requirement for commercial use.

If the case stands, the FAA could be required to refund registration fees.

I don't see the FAA getting around this without Congress changing the wording of the 2012 law.

..This is what i'm curious about to ...if they re-classify it what would happen to the 107?

Guys. This is a duplicate thread.
But Section 336 only applies to model aircraft flown for hobby/recreation. My guess is no effect as it is a different registration for 107.
