FBI now worried about terrorist drones.

Just a matter of time this was going to happen. But it has been done for a while now sadly. Scary thing is... The terrorist can strap a grenade to the phantom, use litchi waypoint mission from a few miles away to their target and they will be hard to track down. Very scary indeed

I don’t disagree at all that this is a possibility... even probability.

But terrorists are driving cars and trucks into people too. Pressure cookers have become bombs. Planes are flown into buildings with box cutters predicating flight control.

Terrorists will terrorize until neutralized.

IMHO I don’t see this imminent threat resulting in drone ban but I do see ever expanding NFZ’s in/around perceived vulnerabilities. And from that I imagine a whole lotta wilderness video.

No conclusion here... just a Thursday morning thought.

Wonder if when we had to register these things if the TSA or Homeland Security also got a list of who owns one? The registration process didn't bother me, and the Part 107 evidently takes a while for a background check as well. Not that knowing who owns one could use them for nefarious means, but still not that affirming of a terrorist buying one. The gang of five caught on camera that was breaking into all the Drones Plus stores on the west coast and eventually shuttered them all bothered me as to what they were up to. If they stole a couple for their fun I could see it, but all stores and all stock seemed very odd.

The idea of an Otto self-driving truck with a payload could wipe out a city. Scary stuff, and not necessarily just a cause for these FBI mini-cruise drone worries. Bad guys will always find a way.

Don't forget guy's... It was just a few days ago where they will be trying remote control planes... I mean passenger planes. (Don't have a link but you can find it on the BBC website)

Looks like anything that can be remote controlled is now a terrorist option sadly. But as I said... Drones are already being used for terror activity

If I am not mistaking, in terrorist areas, DJI is making the area a no fly zone... Which make DJI drones unable to fly.

True... But litchi does not. Plus it's so easy to get a cracked firmware to put on a drone too

In all sincerity, I would think (as far as the FBI’s terrorism concerns) the worry of terrorism by drone is more from the perspective of taking out an influential individual rather than inflicting mass casualty.

A guy with a truck and some fertilizer can do WAY more damage than any drone ever could.

Heard an interview on the AM radio 2 days ago and the subject kept talking able ISIS ising drones. Kept mentioning ISIS over and over like trying to make listeners associate the two together.

I just had a visit from the FBI for flying my drone over the Delaware River in Philadelphia with Cargo Ships. He asked me a ton of questions most aimed at drone modification, Looked like a preprinted questionnaire. Told me I wasn't in any trouble but is asking I stop flying over ships keyword asking, although they did say he wouldn't have to "bring me in". Consulting with an attorney.
