I have used them both and can't really call myself happy with either. I have a Flysight Black Pearl and with both DVRs I needed to make a cable that is a little neater than the supplied composite cables. Not a big deal, but the wiring of the tip/ring/ring/shield or tip/ring/ring/ring/shield is different on the DVR end and the BP monitor end. Velcro'd the DVR to the backside of the BP monitor. I have to make sure the DX600 is off when I pull it off the BP monitor as the battery door will come off the DX600.
On the HobbyKing DVR the socket you plug the A/V cable or power cable into broke and it's soldered directly onto the circuit board making repair difficult or impossible for me. Otherwise it worked just fine. Programming done with the remote only and it must be plugged into the monitor to view the menu. The DVR can be programmed to start recording as soon a power supplied. Power was supplied from BP monitor from a cable I made.
On the DX600, programming can be done with the buttons on the DVR and the built-in screen. A real plus in my mind as the screen is good enough to preview your video without the use of a monitor. A couple of times the recorded image size changed to something other than 640X480 and recording was horrible. More times I've had trouble with losing the recordings all together. If there is no input signal while recording or the input signal is static, the DVR will freeze and the recorded file will be corrupted beyond salvage.
So in my experience with the DX600, turn on your controller, turn on your GoPro and start recording, turn on your monitor, turn on your Phantom, last turn on your DVR and start recording. End of flight, turn off DVR first, then all else. This prevents any chance of freezing DVR.
Once the DX600 has frozen, you can stick a paper clip into the reset hole to get it to work again.
So currently of the two, I've had better luck with the DX600. It's own power, it's own built-in display, remote not required for programming. Big con - it freezes when not happy.
