Saw a video posted on an aviation website the other day of a C182 that flew by a tornado and took pictures of it. Pilot said it was glass smooth within 1/4 mile of tornado and plane showed it, didn't bump a bit.

By the way to other poster above, there is a big difference in a dust devil and a tornado. Not only in severity but also in what forms one.
