DJI Phantom 2 Vision FC200 EGG camera - Black video FPV solution to fix

Hi guys,
i have repaired another egg camera today, by reflashing the bootloader.

The board was marked V4 instead of V1

I attached a photo of the hardware setup for flashing, note the "flying wire" at TP10 because to enter the "bootme" status you just need to touch the BSEL resistor for a moment

Hi guys! I tried to repair the fc200 camera but I think I bricked it. I managed to flash board # 3 following this thread.
I repaired FPV but the next day it was gone again. But that's not all, now the camera doesn't take photos even with the analog button.
I have a green light on the back that blinks red when I try to take the photo manually as if it works fine, but there is no image on the SD card (checked on pc) and I have a message "Connection timeout" on the phone when I try to take a photo with the app. It disconnects for a few seconds ("Phantom Connection Broken") and reconnects. Telemetry works. Sorry for my English, I am using a translator.

Flashed whit O-Gs files an result is:

Hey everyone. I just stumbled across this thread after searching for an egg fpv fix for a while.

I see that this discovered solution is pretty technically advanced. Is there any hope that this process could be simplified in any way? Or maybe a video tutorial?

If not, would it be possible to complete this fix via a mail order service?

I repaired FPV but the next day it was gone again. But that's not all, now the camera doesn't take photos even with the analog button.

The new issue is unrelated to your repair.

Ambarella controls SD-card. Green light means Amba is booting. If it crashes when trying to write data on SD-card, then you have issue with the SD-card or its slot.

Thanks for replying.

I've had some problem with micro sd since it was not locked in place. I tried to push it many times with the camera on and I think that may have damaged the board in some way. Anyway I don't understand why I don't have a video transmission. Could it be a problem in the video input in ambarella?

Hi all,

New to the forum from the UK. I know this is an old post but I'm trying to repair my FC200 (Egg Camera) but can't seem to get the "Boot Me" message in Terra Term. My board is a V1.2B (picture is pulled from the net not the actual board) Am I right in thinking the following pins are correct.

TP1 TX (RX from serial adapter)
TP2 RX (TX from serial adapter)
TP3 GND
TP5 +5v
TP10 +3.3v (used to boot into chip)
As for the resistor am I right in thinking this is the correct 1 that I've circled, and its the side closest to the chip that you short to TP10?

Any help is gratefully appreciated as I'd like to try get my camera up and running again. Ive also added a picture of the serial adapter I'm using, its a PL2303 USB to TTL serial adapter, not sure if this is the correct type to use or if there's any difference really between this and a C 2102 or CH340 chip type

Hi guys,
i have repaired another egg camera today, by reflashing the bootloader.

The board was marked V4 instead of V1

I attached a photo of the hardware setup for flashing, note the "flying wire" at TP10 because to enter the "bootme" status you just need to touch the BSEL resistor for a moment
Popeye,

Did you put 5v onto the board or just 3v to TP8?

That's not a resistor, that's a capacitor. It's actually power stabilization cap, that's why it's so large.

Video transmission requires more chips to work. Make sure your Ambarella is able to write proper images to SD-card; when this works, you may start searching for next issue.
The problem is on board #1 definitively. or at least there the problem manifests itself. I have got another PH2v with defective camera that I managed to repair. So I was able to test each of the boards.
For a moment #1 worked correctly on the new camera, I was even able to take some pictures, but when I restarted the drone, fpv was gone again. and again stopped saving the images on the micro sd.
I suspect SW issue in ambarella.

My question is the following: is it possible to flash ambarella on board 1?

Sorry for my English, I am using a translator

It is possible, meaning there are pins and there are tools which can do that.
But noone on this forum ever did that.

Personally, I never had damaged Ambarella and I never tried tapping to it. Over years some people contacted me asking for stuff, looks like there are some pins which you can solder to, and then you use AmbaUSB tool from your PC to do the flashing. I don't know any details. Some people asked for that on O-Gs GitHub project issues, maybe you'll find more there.

I must be doing something wrong, I get the "BOOTME" message now in Terra Term but when trying to execute the command I get an error message "sfh_dm36x is not recognised as an internal or external"

With such basic issues, you may have good results googling the error message.
Google doesn't come up with much to be fair. as I say everything seems fine when I connect to terr term, i get the "BOOTME" message when I short the 3.3v to the resistor but when I close down TT and open CMD i still get the error message like it can't find the DM36x.exe

I'm probably missing something really simple, hoping the user above named Popeye can shed some light as he seems to have been successful in the past doing the same board.

in cmd you have to be in a folder containing flashing tool
Thanks,

I was actually missing the flashing tool as it didn’t come inside the zip Folder I had downloaded only the 2 IMG files. But after searching online I eventually found it and now can confirm I have an operational FC200 Egg Camera.
Cheers for all the help folks
